to get her to people that have the experience and knowledge
to give her the best possible surroundings and lifestyle,
knowing they were never be able to provide.
After working several days with Pepe, her training continues
for socializing with people. FCBS will continue to work with
her. She is very sweet actually and has polite manners and
was obviously loved. Her cage came with her and is 4ft x 6ft
tall. Pepe has not allowed herself to be caged in almost three
years. She seems to be taking well to her new surroundings,
and enjoys all the attention.

Pebbles is in perfect health, and does not require and medical treatment
and is a confident bird that can get into mischief, so he should not be left
free unsupervised. He needs a companion with experience in handling
birds.
UPDATE: 10-30-07 Pebbles has taken to inviting morning and bedtime
pets through the cage bars. He will take snacks from your hand and is
making progress in human bonding. He has a little toy girlfriend he plays
with and has decided he likes baby blankets on the bottom of his cage
plays with foot toys.

This is ...
Dusty (left) &
Beeper (right)
(Click picture for video link)
Dusty and Beeper are intelligent birds in need of a lot of social attention. This pair was originally
sold from a pet store, are both 9 years of age, (not siblings), and are in good health. When you
separate them Dusty plucks himself, so we are looking to adopt them as a pair.
They are both handleable somewhat. Beeper likes pets, and bathing. Dusty is a little afraid to
cuddle. Both speak a few words, and love to play with their toys in their cage. Both are very well
play pen trained.

My name is Squirtly (video link coming soon)
|
My name is Cody 13 year old,Congo African Grey
|
Squirtly is a pacific parrotlet, similar in personality to a lovebird. Cuddly and animated,
and with a need for daily interaction with a human "companion" to stay tame and loving.
I have heard Squirtly say about 4 words. "good birdie", and "step up". He's learning to
say "want some". Parrotlets can learn more than 10–15 words and can "whistle" songs,
equivalent to a cockatiel. They can get nippy. They are also very good learners for
commands such as "step up" and "kiss-kiss". Squirtly is easy to take care of, and needs
someone with an open heart and a place to call home.

Click picture for video Cody's human companion had 5 heart surgeries
this past year. In fear that he could not be able to guarantee to provide
proper care for him in the future, as he has for the past 10 years. With
deep sadness he surrendered Cody in trust that he could be placed with
another companion that would love and care for Cody. Come back and
visit him as this 12 year old African Grey's story unfolds.
Abandoned at our door at the age of 2 week was skittles and 5 little siblings.
The others were adopted but skittle was being picked on.
He remained behind and was later introduced to a friend named Cotton. They have been cage pals for almost
7 months. These little darlings will live another 10 - 15 years. Most people want large exotic parrots that talk.
Few come to see the delicate little finches, yet these precious little birds can still bring you years of
companionship and love. They have cute personalities, and are gentle birds. Cotton was a hand fed baby.

This is Barney Male - Cockateil
|
Ready For Adoption 03-01-2008
|
Barney is a 3 1/2 year old cockatiel, that was caged with his own male offspring. This was not the ideal living arrangement,
causing Barney to became an unhappy bird, that was showing aggression to his younger cage mate. He was surrendered to
FCBS as a result of his aggression.
Barney likes to whistle several different tunes and likes to talk. He will ride around on your shoulder contently.
Cockatiel lifespans in captivity are generally given as 15-20 years,
The main diet for cockaieils should consist of a 80% healthy pellet diet,
with 20% remaining variety of, seed, fresh fruits.
Originally named "The Grinch" We decided to change his name to Barney since his
personality greatly resembles the very famous deputy Barney Fife, from the Andy Griffith show.
Pepe is a 40 year old Double Yellow Headed Amazon.
She has lived with same family since 1970's. She was a
wild capture from Mexico and roamed the town freely as a
pet for several years. Her B/G Macaw (Beito) friend lost his
life to electrocution on the power lines.
In 1977 Pepito was allowed to move to California.
After 22 years, Pepe's human companion passed away.
Ten years ago responsibility as a caretaker became
another family member that has been unable to handle her.
Recently the very difficult decision was made that in best
interest of Pepe,
He loves to get all the attention he can, and has an adorable personality.
He is a quiet and shy bird looking for someone that can give him the
attention he deserves. He has lived in three homes. He doesn't like hands
(possibly a past owner was a beak tapper) but will hitch a ride on your
shoulder once in a while.
He belongs to himself and can be a little possessive of his things, so we
rearrange his space quite often. He was an unwanted pet originally and
was UN handleable. These days you can hold him once in a while.
We acquired him from a rescue sanctuary at 2 and 1/2 years old. She
didn't want to work with him and had posted an advertisement to sell him.

The sociable and generally gentle cockatiel has become a treasured household pet that will do well in most
households. Sunshine loves to whistle tunes, make kiss noises and will gently chatter his way into your heart.
During his stay at FCBS he has been somewhat handleable and charming. With little work he will be the
cuddle bug your looking for. His health and feather is perfect. Hes a great bird for someone that is looking for
an attentive companion. We just know that "Sunshine on your shoulders will make you happy."
